Welcome to

Sector Southeast Alaska

"Guardians of the Inside Passage"

Coast Guard Sector Southeast Alaska is a multi-mission unit based in Juneau, Alaska. The command consists of over 300 Coast Guard active duty, reserve, civilian, and auxiliary personnel including eleven field commands and detachments. Sector Southeast Alaska's personnel, under three main departments, Prevention, Response, and Logistics, provide a vital Coast Guard presence in four major Southeast Alaska communities, and conduct operations in over 20 remote areas and native villages on over 2,000 islands and 10,000 miles of shoreline.

Sector Southeast Alaska is in the Tongass National Forest, the second largest rain forest in the world.  This vast and unforgiving area of responsibility is teeming with critical resources, habitats, and communities dependent on maritime infrastructure, safety, and security.  The intrinsic beauty and unique environment attract nearly 2 million cruise ship visitors on more than 650 cruise ship arrivals every year.  Additionally, Southeast Alaska fisheries account for more than $130 million in revenues annually.  With limited resources in Southeast Alaska, Sector Southeast Alaska strives to foster partnerships with local, state, federal, tribal, and industry stakeholders to serve the people and communities of Southeast Alaska.

VISION
Provide the highest degree of professional maritime safety, security, and law enforcement service to Southeast Alaska in all Coast Guard mission areas.  We will continue striving for operational excellence as Guardians of Southeast Alaska’s maritime domain.

MISSION
Sector Southeast Alaska will continue fostering relationships with port partners and the public we serve through cultural awareness, loyalty, integrity, and selfless service. We are committed to the development of our people through training, education, and wellness.
