LTJG Rebecca Cotton

 

 

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rebecca Cotton entered the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut in the summer of 2011. She enjoys running and outdoor sports and competed with the Academy’s triathlon team. In Summer 2014, she departed the Academy to serve an 18-month volunteer mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hong Kong, China. Following her mission-trip, she returned to the Academy to finish her last year, graduating in May 2017 with a commission and Bachelor of Science in Government.

 

Upon graduation, LTJG Cotton was assigned to USCGC VALIANT in Mayport, FL. Serving as Deck Watch Officer, Helicopter Control Officer, and Support Officer, she deployed on six patrols to the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific in support of illegal drug/migrant interdiction operations. During her time on-board, VALIANT also led relief operations in the U.S. Virgin Islands following the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
